The Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) New York is a correctional facility located in New York, N.Y. [1] [2] [3] [4]. On July 23, 2019, at 1:27 AM, an incident occurred at the MCC involving inmate Jeffrey Epstein, register number 76318-054, in the Special Housing Unit [1] [2] [3]. Another incident occurred on August 10, 2019, at 6:33 AM, also involving Epstein [2]. The MCC was the workplace of correctional officers Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, who were charged with dereliction of duty in connection with their failure to perform mandated counts of prisoners in the Special Housing Unit [4]. The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York handled the case against Noel and Thomas, with case numbers 19 Cr. 830 [5] [6].
