There is little doubt that the secretiv= efforts by the opponents of the measure resulted in the referendum faili=g to reach the near super-majority requirement. Over the last few weeks, we've seen a small group hide behind sh=dy outside PACs and engage in the worst scare tactics to spread complete=lies about the hotel referendum. It's incumbent on the media and=independent ethics and elections boards to review the tactics employed in=this election as these PACs purposefully skirted election laws, resulti=g in voters receiving complete falsehoods without the benefit of knowing=who funded these attacks. I commend Jack Portman, nearly all my colleagues on the commission and t=e neighborhood leaders who joined together to answer questions for reside=ts and deliver the facts. Over the coming weeks, I will work with my co=leagues to ensure that the will of the majority of Miami Beach voters is=not silenced and that the progress we've made with our convention=center corridor continues. Sincerely, Philip Levine Mayor of Miami Beach Co
